Ryan is a woodworker with a YouTube channel. For most solo YouTubers, they have to set up a ton of cameras pointed at them while they do their work, or even worse, they have to stop working like 100 times to move the cameras around and switch angles to show what they’re doing. Having a dedicated camera operator makes the camera work 10x better than a tripod.

I flew out to Ryan’s place to shoot a couple episodes of his Ironwood Outfit Youtube Channel. The video above was going to be just a tour of his shop, but we decided to do it while making something simple like a cutting board. The other video was an entryway bench he made.

This shoot and edit was a blast because it merged woodworking with motion graphics and green screen work, these are a few of my favorite things.
