It’s always fun working with lasers, something that more people are asking for as people get proficient with the tech. Designing for 3D packaging presents really fun possibilities and new challenges to explore… and it just looks awesome to create something functional that gets used in 3D space like this.
The video to the left is me drawing one of the faces of the lid box, before drawing the filigree. As you can see, I had to slow it down so you can see what I’m doing.
When your laser can draw in .002″, the wow factor goes way up.
Each file has about a dozen art boards for different configurations and layers to the cut/etch svg files.
Even lame things like sugar packet boxes look awesome with good materials and sexy artwork.
In case we wanna mass produce these babies, I made some files for sheet material.
